Exploring the world since 1965

Compared to the last two days the coming two days will be a bit more challenging and will definitely not have any cocktail pictures and consumption.

We left our beach airbnb in Cargèse after a last swim in the Mediterranean and another good French breakfast at 9am. Chris drove us across the island and over some more mountain passes through all the different vegetation varieties Corsica has to offer, stopping several times for various animals in the road!

Mountain passes

Arriving in Bastia we charged the car to 100% and spent the time waiting for completion in the neighbouring boulangerie where we had pastries and a good coffee.

I think on our whole trip we charged the electric car 7 times (of course only renewable energy) for the over 3000 km that we traveled with a total cost of 175€. Fossil fuel for this trip would have cost us over 400€.

And then we embarked again on the ferry departing at 3:45pm for the 7 hour long transfer to the mainland. We had booked a reclining seat to rest for the upcoming drive.

After a long and uneventful 1200 km road trip, with me driving overnight through the Alps and Chris taking over in the morning, we safely and happily arrived home at 3:30pm.

The vacation did not end right away, I was really looking forward to processing the pictures that I took of the Andromeda Galaxy in the Corsican mountains. And I have to say, I am quite happy with the outcome. Click on it and zoom in a bit, there is more detail. This is the result of 303 pictures with an exposure time of 20s, so a total of 101 minutes with an ISO3200 at 600m and f8. I will play around a bit more with processing, but it will not get much better than this.

Until the next adventure!
