We are now on our way back to San Jose where our birding round-trip will end. We exchanged the sweaty lowland wet forest of the Corcovado region with the highland wet forest and much cooler temperatures. Our lodge is at around 2800m altitude, has actual glass windows, a hot shower, and a heater instead of a fan.

We are close to the Los Quetzales National Park which has its main attraction in the name, but before we gave the Resplendant Quetzal (its real name) a serious try we had a lunch stop that catered to the needs of ornithologists by feeding birds of different varieties.
I will only show you the four new species of hummingbirds. 😀

Our lodge is beautifully located in a steep valley which is famous for its Quetzal population and tomorrow we will try our luck. But even a short walk around added several new species to the list.

The above is a cute flycatcher being the thirteenth different flycatcher I have seen in less than two weeks. The total is now at 216 new bird species.
