Exploring the world since 1965

Nighttime temperatures are not that bad, but the humidity with 92% makes it unbearable, we are in the so-called lowland tropical wet forest. Coming out of the shower gives you relief for 10 minutes, maybe a bit longer if you do not move and don’t think too hard, but basically you cannot escape.

The Equinas Rainforest Lodge is part of another project with the aim to expand rainforest coverage and build bridges between existing forest areas. This project was started by an Austrian violinist, Michael Schnitzler, a descendent of the author Arthur Schnitzler, who raised significant amount of money to buy land and donate it to Costa Rica for conservation and re-forestation. The forest is now called the Rainforest of the Austrians. Thirty years ago this was farmland, now Ocelot, Panther, Puma, and Tapir roam the forest.
